Activity:

1.  Quiz. Quiz. Trade.

Take our your homework from last night.
On 3 separate index cards, write an allusion for each one.
On one side write the example, and on the other side identify the allusion and what it means.

We will use these cards to practice identifying allusions.

2.  Sophia Motif Tutorial

Read through the tutorial on Sophia. 
While reading take Cornell notes.

I would strongly suggest including the graph in your notes.

3.  Motif Practice

As a class, we will listen to the audiobook of Story of an Hour.

You may follow along with an electronic copy of the story here


4.  Practice and Homework

You will practice identifying motifs through song lyrics.
Find any five songs of your choice and identify a motif in each one.
In a Google Doc, identify the motif and explain how it creates meaning in the song.

Closure:


Using the learning target, self-evaluate on identifying allusions.
Would you be hitting a 1, 2, 3, or 4?
Explain why you are on that level.

Repeat the above question for identifying motifs.
